Nope. Article 1 Paragraph 3 just states that the convention does not apply in those cases. The definition of racial discrimination stands. You should read through the US response to the last review under the CERD (in 2003) and check the responses on immigration policy.

If congress would have done it's job properly 60 years back, there was no need of nuclear deal now. The comment you made makes it pretty sure that congress was a failure since last 6 decades. The benefits of current nuclear deal will be in next 2 decades. So what poor people of India eat in next two decades? Will you tell them that don't worry...hang on for next 20 years. Also do you know the case of Enron and how politicians of all colors made fool of people.

:) I thought it was understood by now, that without changes in law, there is no "speedup" (for 485 approvals). USCIS has been super efficient recently, what is missing is the "visa number".
We are not discussing justifications of US laws. We are trying to find ways within the existing laws, for speeding up our cases.

I am finally moving to canada in 2-3 months. Deadline for landing is March 3rd 2007.

Well - world is definitely a beautiful place. World is beautiful because of beautiful good people. Like there is a saying "How is house different from a home? House maybe be beatiful and big but it is a home ONLY if it is a happy place to live" and making the world our home lies in how we make sure that it is a happy place to live.
While your approach towards solving the problems is "education" in my opinion education does help, but that is NOT the only factor. Change happens gradually. Don't we all agree that the most educated people might be the biggest "problem creators"
WRT snathan - he is a personal friend and I know him. He is sympathetic towards poor and downtrodden and wants to fight against injustice etc.....
To snathan - to understand things in a better perspective, I recommend that you try this. Invite 30 hungry, poor, starving people to your house and provide them with food, education, good life and ask them to seek opportunities to better themselves. You may face the following
(1) People may get more demanding
(2) They may fight among themselves
(3) Some might steal from you
(4) Some might get into unethical activities
(5) Some might disrespect you and step over you
(6) They may show more respect to those who did not care for them and curse you for some silly reason.
You might find some good people who really do what you intend them to do.
Why I say this is - there is no GOOD POOR MAN nor BAD RICH MAN - different people behave different in different circumstances.
Did you know that India's independence struggle, American civil liberty struggle were all funded by rich businessmen - they trusted the leaders and gave a lot of money for campaigns for them to be successful.

This rumour was in many minds up untill now. Now that we are discussing it openly, we are atleast clear in our minds about this issue.
We atleast are discussing what USCIS could or coundn't do.
Even my attorney has said that they cannot guarantee exact filing date per each case, even though mine was the very first application that went to my attorney's office with all documents ready including medical reports, birth certifictes. Such is the work load in my attorney's office.

As we do not have any real numbers my predictions are based on EB2 numbers from (assuming the data to be a true random sample)

USCIS has approved about 450 EB2-I cases last year. A conservative estimate of approval rate going forward would be 30 cases per month. Based on this the movement..

I am from AP and does not belong to either of the casts that people were fighting here.
I like YSR because of his leadership qualities. I like his guts, determination and down to earth personality. This is just his personality and I don't like the way he is spending money and all traps for poor people and making them beg. As many friends here are talking, he is corrupt, kills opponents and land mafia.
From all the posts I have not find a single person to mention JP from Loksatta. If we keep aside the feelings like state, language, caste and religion and encourage JP, we will really see bright India.

I warn you not to start the Muslims vs rest debate here....I would say most (not all) people are fanatics will do any attrocity in the name of religion. Its good for consultants as they will now get a chance to be employee of primary vendor - no more "layers" and "layers" of consulting companies taking cut out of their share.
Certainly a doomsday for these small consulting companies which in my opinion had no business taking cut (literally for doing nothing - many times just sending out monthly invoices) out the consultants pay anyway
